:: Outreach Services Award


First National Outreach Services Award 

The Iran Public Libraries Foundation and the Iran Public Libraries Advancement Association intend to encourage and appreciate the sustainable services of librarians in the National Award for Public Library Services; Services that are in line with the mission of public libraries to provide services to all Iranians regardless of social status and economic conditions. This year's award is for outreach services. Of course, any librarian can enumerate many outreach services, but note that in this award, priority and necessity of service, effectiveness and scope of service, innovation and continuity of service are important criteria, so volunteers are invited to choose services based on these criteria.

The "National Award for Outreach Services" has been considered by the Iran Public Libraries Foundation and the Iran Public Libraries Advancement Association at the national level for continuous outreach services provided by librarians from 2017 to 2021. Interested parties have the opportunity to send documents related to their extracurricular activities, which can be categorized in the following topics through the Association's website. Note that each person can send the documents of one or more services.

  • Services in special places such as prisons, hospitals, schools, sanatoriums, kindergartens, government offices, etc.

  • Community activities, such as activities in parks, festivals and celebrations, religious and national ceremonies, marches, etc.;

  • Services in areas that do not have libraries, such as cities, villages, nomadic areas, suburbs, and immigrant areas;

  • Services in special situations such as disasters and natural disasters and epidemics;

  • In-house services such as services for the elderly, children, the disabled or disabled who do not have access to a library.

 

How to Participate in the Award

Applicants must have a description of 500 words of activities performed in the period from 22th November 2021 until 10th January 2022, including; the place, time, recipients and the manner of providing the service and its effectiveness along with any document that can prove the performance and continuity of his/her services through the association's website. Documents can include the following:

  • Administrative letters of the relevant organization or legal organizations and authorities;

  • Video of the service (interested parties can upload a video of a maximum of 5 minutes related to the service on https://www.aparat.com/ and send the link);

  • Image or images related to service delivery;

  • Link to news reports published from the service;

  • Copy of certificate or appreciation from organizations and departments with the subject of service;

  • Any written document based on users' satisfaction with the service.

 

Arbitration Process

The documents submitted to the Award website will be judged by the jury in the first stage, in these stage 10 nominees for the award will be introduced and then in the second stage, the following process will be done;

  • Introducing the nominees for the award (10 people) with the opinion of the judges based on the criteria of the judges and, if necessary, a field visit by the evaluators of the association;

  • Presenting the activities of the candidates by themselves in the International Conference on Design and Development of Public Library Services;

  • Selection of the first to third winners based on the score of the judges (50%) and voting of the online members of the association (50%).

 

Evaluation Criteria

  • The effectiveness of the activity;

  • Scope of service;

  • Innovation and creativity;

  • Continuity of service;

  • Priority and necessity of service.

  • Dr. Esmat Momeni (member of the faculty of Allameh Tabatabai University);

  • Dr. Mansour Koohi Rostami (Chairman of the Board of the Scientific Association for the Promotion of Public Libraries of Iran);

  • Mr. Seyed Ali Kashefi Khansari (cultural activist);

  • Ms. Mansoureh Mostafazadeh (cultural activist);

  • Mr. Yousef Abedi (Head of the Planning Group of the Public Libraries of the country).

 

 Awards

  • First person: 150 million Rials + letter of commendation + statue;

  • Second person: 100 million Rials + letter of commendation + statue;

  • Third person: 50 million Rials + letter of commendation + statue;

  • Fourth to tenth persons: 10 million Rials + letter of commendation.

 

Award Calendar

  • Sending documents until January 10, 2022;

  • Preliminary judging and introduction of candidates until March 11, 2022;

  • Holding a meeting to present the chosen ones and the final judging on May 17, 2022.


    *It is worth mentioning that the "National Award for Outreach Services in Public Libraries" is one of the side events of this International Conference, which will be held at the national level for the participants from Iran to reach the continuous outreach services provided by iranian librarians from 2017 to 2021.
